Winterset Madisonian – September 28, 1898
Pg 5
Obituary
Died, September 19, 1898, at the home of her father, A. J. Cornelison, Mrs. Sylvia Kerns, aged 19 years, 6 months and 5 days.
She had been a sufferer from consumption since February, which she endured with patience to the end. She was willing and ready to meet her Saviour, for “blessed are they who die in the Lord, for they shall see God.” Her father, two sisters and three brothers survive her. All were present except James, the oldest brother, who resides at Villisca, Iowa.
The funeral services were conducted by the Rev. S. J. Callison, of the Christian church, on Wednesday at 2 p.m. and the remains were followed to the Barney cemetery by a large procession of mourning relatives and friends. The family have the deepest sympathy of all in this their sad hour of sorrow.
