Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel with Dr. Howard K. Batson, pastor of First Baptist Church, and the Rev. Corky Holland of First Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Bobby was born Jan. 3, 1931, in Spanish Fort to Walter and Dora Scruggs. He lived in Canyon from 1948 to 1949. He married Betty Harper in 1949, in Umbarger.
In 1950, Bobby went to work for Southwestern Bell at which time he and Betty moved to Amarillo. He retired from AT&T after 35 years of service. Bobby was a member of First Baptist Church and a lifelong member of Texas Old Time Fiddlers Association.
He was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Scruggs of the home; a daughter, Connie Elizardo and husband Joe of Amarillo; a son, Carl W. Scruggs of Springtown; two sisters, Odessa Linderman of Umbarger and Maureen Abbott of Canyon; six grandchildren, Jerry Owen and wife Amy, James Owen and wife Shannon, Carey Owen and wife Stephenie, Christie Scruggs and husband Rob, Robert Scruggs and wife Ashley and Kayla Hackney and husband Tim; and 18 great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials be to First Baptist Church Senior Adult Ministry, 1208 S. Tyler St., Amarillo, TX 79101.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
