THE BROWNSVILLE TIMES: Brownsville, Oregon 21, August 1903

Sarah Ann Hesser Long, aged 82 years, died at her home near Rowland, on Monday, August 17, 1903.
The deceased was born in Crawford County, Ohio, September 20, 1821, and removed with her parents in childhood to Mercer County, Iowa, where she was married to Lewis Long in 1839.
She moved from Iowa to Illinois in 1844 and crossed the plains with ox teams to Oregon in 1854, settling on the old homestead in Linn County in 1855, where she has lived ever since. She has never been away from the old home except once, when she visited her sons, Alonzo and Gabriel, in Baker county with her husband in 1888.
Sarah and Lewis were the parents of nine children, seven sons and two daughters, all of whom survive her except two sons, one of whom died in his 18th year in Marion County, the other in his 33rd year in Baker County. She experienced a change of heart in the year 1840, but never made an open profession until her sickness when she confessed her faith in Christ and her assurance of a home in Heaven. She was a good neighbor, a kind and loving mother and is sincerely mourned by all who knew her.
The funeral was conducted on Tuesday by Rev. Sperry, when the remains were followed to their last resting place.

She was supposedly buried beside her husband Lewis, but no marker is there, so assuming a marker was never placed.
