Ella Josephine (McNamara) Lucey was born on a farm off County Trunk F in the Township of Seneca, Crawford County, WI. on December 12, 1890. She was the daughter of Edward J. and Ellen (Young) McNamara. Ella taught in the rural schools near her home and cared for her mother in her long illness before marrying Gregory Charles Lucey on June 11, 1917, at the age of 28. Gregory was 21 at the time of the marriage and was the son of John and Margaret (Connelly) Lucey. Greg and Ella had 7 children as they moved around living in Ferryville, Prairie du Chien and Bagley, WI.

Their 7 children were:

Eleanor (Bernard "Herb") Watson,
Verona (Robert) Dyer

Ella passed away on December 22, 1972 at the St. Francis Hospital in La Crosse, WI.
