Gordon is the 9-month-old son
of Lloyd Feather Bliss and
his wife Cecile Gay Upham.

Gordon was born on the Bliss family
farm on Geyer Road,
N.- N.E. of Buchanan, Michigan.
This area was
known as the "Bend of the River".
Gordon was born two months "after"
the death of his father Lloyd.
(Lloyd never got to see his only son).

After his father died in 1938, his mother
moved the family "into town", in Buchanan,
MI (to a home they probably rented,
before they purchased the home on Cayuga St.).
Gordon died in their home at
417 Moccasin Street, in Buchanan, MI.

He died of influenza, at the age
of 9 months and 13 days.
Gordon had six older sisters.

Gordon is buried in the BLISS family
plot, in Section A, Lot 33.
His headstone reads as follows:

Bliss Infant Dies;
Burial in Buchanan

Buchanan, March 6. - Gordon Bliss,
10 months-old ["should" say 9 months
and 13 days old] child of Lloyd and
Cecelia [Cecile] Upham Bliss, died in
the home at 417 Moccasin avenue, at
5:15 Sunday morning [following a
brief illness]. The child was
born May 22, 1938, in Niles township,
[in] the "Bend of the River",
[two months after the death
of his father Lloyd Bliss].
He is survived by the mother,
father having died in March 1838,
and six sisters; Mrs. Thelma Letcher
and Miss Mary Louise Bliss; Margaret
[Marguerite], Frances, Catherine
[Kathryn] and Barbara at home; also
the maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs.
Clarence [and Cleo] Upham, Buchanan.
Funeral services were held this
afternoon [Monday] at 2 o'clock in
the L. O. Swem funeral home and
burial took place in the Oak Ridge
cemetery with the Rev. Paul Ewing
of the Church of Christ, of which
the child was a member of [the]
cradle roll, officiated.
