Dorothy Stine, 96, of KCK, passed away Mon., Aug. 18, 2104, at home. Visitation will be 9:30 to 11 a.m. with services at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 22, at Chapel Hill-Butler, 701 N. 94th St., KCK. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Dorothy was born Feb. 21, 1918, in Ottawa, Kan., to John and Esther Compton. She graduated from Ottawa HS and married the love of her life, William Stine in Sept. of 1936. Dorothy worked as a meatwrapper in the 1950s and then was in real estate and property management from the 1960s all the way until the late 2000s. She was a charter member of the Ottawa VFW Auxiliary and a longtime member of White Church Baptist Church, where she played the organ and prepared all the church meals. Dorothy loved crossword and jigsaw puzzles and playing cards. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Esther Compton; husband of 63 years, William Stine; brothers, Robert and John Compton; son, Jerry Stine; and grandsons, David Stine and Rick Gillem. Dorothy is survived by sons, Don Stine (Pat) and Dick Stine (Kathy); sister, Norma Galloway; 12 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
