Bonnie Fern Kirksey, 83, of Bolivar died Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2014, at Citizens Memorial Healthcare Facility, Bolivar. She was born Sept. 13, 1930, in Wishart, the sixth child of eight born to Okley and Ruth Gent Hopkins.

Bonnie was a 1947 graduate of Marion C. Early High School in Morrisville. She was married Aug. 10, 1950, in Harrison, Ark., to Richard Kirksey of Aldrich. She was a loyal, hard-working farmer’s wife and a member of the Enon Missionary Baptist Church.

Bonnie was a sister, aunt, friend, neighbor and sister-in-law who was always concerned for family and school acquaintances. She loved her family. Her day was complete knowing all that was going on with her brother and the rest of the family. She was a victim of Char Marie Tooth Disease, deterioration of the muscle, but she kept going.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard; and siblings Glen Eugene, Harlan, Doyle, Velma Hopkins and Delsena Stewart.

She is survived by one brother, Stanley Hopkins and his wife, Barbara, of Oak Grove; one sister, Reva Maudetta of Fresno, Calif.; several Hopkins and Kirksey nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery with nephews Brent Hopkins and Pastor Gary W. Stewart officiating. Friends and family may call at their own convenience from 1 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 22, in the funeral home.
