DEATH OF JAMES P. BIRD.
A Member of an Early Missouri Family
Dies at 76.
James P. Bird, 76 years old, a brother-in-law of Harry C. Orr, general passenger agent of the Kansas City, Mexico & Orient railway, died last night. Mr. Bird was a son of Greening Bird. He was born in Liberty, Mo., but removed to Leavenworth, Kas., in 1857, where he was in the dry goods business under the firm of Kelley & Bird. Twenty years ago he came to Kansas City. Mr. Bird's brother, John E. Bird, has been a resident of Kansas City for the last forty-four years. Besides his brother, John, and his sister, Mrs. Orr, Mr. Bird is survived by a sister, Mrs. Maggie B. Lincoln of Bowling Green, Mo.
Funeral services will be at the home of Harry C. Orr, 3440 Charlotte street, at 2 o'clock to-morrow. The Rev. S. M. Neel of the Central Presbyterian church will officiate. Burial will be in Union cemetery.
