Greenup Bird Jr.
Greenup is the son of Greenup Bird Sr. Greenup Bird, Sr. went down in history as the banker at Clay County Savings when it was robbed by the James-Younger gang. As the story goes, Frank James pushed Greenup Sr. into the vault and closed it on their way out. Greenup Sr.’s son, William was the other employee there at the time of the robbery. Greenup Jr. grew up and had a son and named him William, the namesake of his somewhat famous uncle. Greenup Jr. and his son, William are buried also at Elmwood.
