Jerry D. Allen, 69, Idaville, died at 6:14 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, 2014, at Indiana University Health White Memorial Hospital Emergency Room in Monticello.
He was born July 14, 1945 in Idaville to William and Mary (Constant) Allen. On March 21, 1970, at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Forrest, Ill., he married Barbara A. "Barb" Ricketts. She survives.
Jerry attended school in Idaville. He had worked in factories in Illinois and Indiana for 30 years, and after his retirement, he enjoyed working seasonal work at Pineview Golf Course in Monticello. He had served in the Indiana National Guard for 16 years. Jerry was a member of the Yeoman United Methodist Church and was a Charter Member of the New Hope Lutheran Church of Monticello.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara A. "Barb" Allen, Idaville; son, Scott (Jennifer) Allen, Reynolds; daughters, Jodi (John) Doyle, Forrest, Ill. and Kristie Allen, Chicago, Ill.; seven grandchildren; one great-grandson; sisters, Shirley Minix, Delphi and Barb Robinson, Burnettsville; brothers-in-law, Wayne (Donna) Ricketts, Braidwood, Ill. and Robert "Bob" (Gail) Ricketts, Missouri; sister-in-law, Marlene (Gene) Colclasure, Normal, Ill.; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews; and his dog, Shorty.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Nancy Allen; and brothers-in-law, Landon Minix and Joe Robinson.
Visitation will be from 3 - 7 p.m. EDT Tuesday at the Miller-Roscka Funeral Home of Monticello.
Full Military Rites by the Monticello Veterans Honor Guard will take place at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. with Rev. Keith Raderstorf officiating.
Burial is private for the family.
Memorials may be given to the American Heart Association or to the Yeoman United Methodist Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
