He was born at Huntingburg June 24, 1913, to William and Ada (Vandiver) Bartelt. He married Elenor Kronemeyer June 20, 1936.
Surviving are his wife, Elenor Bartelt; daughters, Mrs. Jerry (Doris) Hemmerlein and June Hildenbrand; brother, Wilford Bartelt; sisters. Helen Lindauer and Dorothy Weisman; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Elmer Bartelt.
Mr. Bartelt was a retired call mine owner/operator.
