Rena was the daughter of Hiram Amsey & Eva (Alexander) Gooch. She was born in Ripley, Oklahoma and joined two older brothers, Everett and Hiram at home. She was later joined by a little sister Eva. At the age of 34, she met and married David Wheeler. They raised two daughters in Kansas City, Missouri. Rena died in Lees Summit, Missouri and is buried next to her husband David at Floral Hills Memorial Garden in the Garden of Gethsemane.
