Forest Mitchell Swearengin, 73, died Monday, Feb. 17 of a heart attack at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Lucy Perkinson, (1313 Churchville Ave.) Staunton, where he was visiting. Mr. Swearengin, who had lived in Monterey for the past 33 years was born at Millboro, in Bath County on Jan. 1, 1891. Surviving include five daughters, Mrs. Perkinson, Mrs. Edith Rexrode, Monterey, Mrs. James Deel, McDowell, Mrs. C. A. Trayer and Mrs. Frankie Ralston, Jr. both of Staunton; two sisters, Mrs. Amanda Huff, Washington, D. C. and Mrs. Camilla Loan, Millboro; a brother, Hugh Swearengin, Bacova; 20 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. His wife, Mrs. Bessie Swearengin. preceded him in death in 1960. Funeral services were held Wednesday, Feb. 19 from Monterey Methodist Church by the Rev: Rufus O'Quinn. Interment was in Monterey Cemetery.
