My g grand Aunt Mrs. Marie (McKnight) Baldwin, also known as Mary ( given name ), was born July 2nd 1878 in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. When She was three years of age , Her parents moved the Family to ElMira New York where They lived until 1887. In that Year Benjamin and Pernisa decided to go west to LeMars Iowa - She grew up in and around LeMars - She was graduated from Mankato State teachers college in 1906 and received a life certificate to teach in the state of Minnesota. In all She taught school twelve years in Plymouth county Iowa and in Minnesota.

in 1914 She was united in Marriage to Walter Baldwin in Worthington Minnesota and came to live on a farm in Fredonia township Plymouth county Iowa . Her and Walter resided there until Walters death July 1 1946 - on July 1 1948 She moved to LeMars .

No children were born to this union , but They took into Their home one boy and two girls , cared for Them as Their own and looked after Their education.


Marie McKnight Baldwin died January 7 1968 (stroke) LeMars Iowa She was a 69 year member of Seney Methodist church, She was buried at LeMars Memorial cemetary with Her Mother (Pernisa McKnight ), Husband ( Walter Baldwin ) and sister .

Survivors were one adopted son - Lindsey Baldwin of LeMars Iowa and Two ward daughters Mrs Roy Milton (Lucille), Los Angeles Calif. and Mrs Glenn Moir ( Evelyn) of Orange City Iowa. two brothers William R McKnight of Yankton South Dakota and Benjamin of Rochester Minnesota, 5 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren .She had been a member of Seney Methodist Church since She was twenty years old and active in many activities.

Miss Marie McKnight, who has spent most of the summer with her aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. P. Albro, left for Mankato, Minn., Saturday morning to resume her duties as teacher.
