William Robert McKnight was born to Benjamin Franklin and Pernisa McKnight in Williamsport, Lycoming, Pennsylvania. He is one of four children, and moved to Iowa with his family in the 1880's. His mother passed away in August of 1890 , William was a farmer and in 1904 married Lucille Ellsworth, she passed away of Tuberculosis in 1912. He then remarried to Anna, living in Yankton South Dakota for the last month of his life William was staying with Marie Baldwin ( his sister). He passed away in Sacred Heart Hospital, LeMars, Plymouth, Iowa
