Joe M. Pfannentiel, 81, died Sunday at Hillcrest Manor Nursing Home after a long illness. He was a retired farmer. He moved to Hays in Oct. 1956, and lived at 204 East 19th St. since that time.

He is survived by his wife, Sophia of the home; one son, Ed M. Pfannestiel of Hays; six daughters, Mrs. Matilda Wittman, Victoria, Sr. M. Carmelyn, Minneapolis, Minn., Mrs. Bernard (Minnie) Lang, Quinter, Mrs. Marvin (Rita) Lang, Quinter, Mrs. Marvin (Rita) Bieker, Schoenchen, Mrs. Gilbert (Mary Ann) Schmeidler, Catherine, and Edna Jane, of the home; 22 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; one brother, John M. Pfannenstiel of Hays.

Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph's Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call at Brock's North Hill Chapel until service time. There will be a parish wake service at 8:15 p.m. Monday at the chapel.
