Philomene Marie "Minnie" Lang, 86, Quinter, mother of Kenneth (Beverly) Lang of Colby, died Friday, Feb. 6, 2009, at the Gove County Medical Center in Quinter. She was born Aug. 10, 1922, on a farm in Ellis County, to Joseph M. and Sophie (Rupp) Pfannenstiel.

She married Bernard Lang on June 11, 1946, in Hays. Mrs. Lang worked at the Dairy Queen in Quinter for 27 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on March 2, 1981; two brothers, Ignatius and Edward Pfannenstiel; and five sisters, Matilda Wittman, Sister Irene Carmelyn, Albertine Pfannenstiel, Edna Jane Pfannenstiel and Jeannette Pfannenstiel.

She is survived by three other sons, Derrell (Pam) Lang, Maricopa, Ariz.; Gary (Marsha) Lang of Westminster, Calif.; and Randy (Darlene) Lang, Castle Rock, Colo.; two daughters, Charlene (Leon) Wittman, Shawnee, and Coleen (Dan) Pickett, Longmont, Colo.; two sisters, Rita Bieker, Hays, and Mary Ann (Gilbert) Schmeidler, Catherine; 15 grand- children; and 19 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2009, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Park and burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. today at the Schmitt Funeral Home in Quinter, with a vigil service at 7:30. The family suggests gifts for Walk-A-Thon for health or the church in care of the funeral home, 901 S. Main, Quinter, Kan. 67752.
