Obituary. MIDVALE - Henry Beckstead, 87, died Feb. 26, 1980, in a Salt Lake City hospital of natural causes.

Born Dec. 18, 1892, South Jordan, to Bryam Henry and Annie Jane Hold Beckstead. Married Alice Fern Cooper, May 13, 1913, Salt Lake LDS Temple. She died Sept. 27, 1961. Married Thelma Bangerter, Dec.12, 1973, Salt Lake LDS Temple. Mayor of Midvale for 20 years. Served on the Salt Lake Water Commission, Salt Lake County Mosquito Abatement District, and was president of the Salt Lake County Library Board. LDS bishop for 15 1/2 years. Member, high council. Member, LDS Welfare Committee presidency when it was first organized. Served as stake welfare director. Served an East Canadian LDS Mission; Sunday School teacher; high pries group leader for 14 years; lifelong Temple worker.

Survivors wife, Midvale; sons, Rex, Salt Lake City; Paul, Los Angeles, Calif.; step-children, Mrs. E. Wheeler (Carole) Oliphant, Mrs. Robert H. (Fee) Hilton, Warren Reid Lake, all Salt Lake City, 9 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; brothers, sister, Leonard, Edward, both Riverton; Reed, Midvale; Royal, Mrs. Fern Holt, both South Jordan; Cloyd, New Mexico; preceded in death by a son, Chad.

Funeral services Saturday, 1 p.m., Midvale 2nd LDS Ward Chapel, 40 So. Main. Friends may call at Goff Mortuary, 8090 So. State, Friday, 6-8 p.m., and Saturday, also from 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Burial, Midvale City Cemetery. The family suggests in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the Primary Children's Medical Center.
