SUMMERFIELD – Mrs. Minnie C. Mitchell, age 100, passed away on Saturday, August 30, 2014 at Wesley Long Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at the Forbis and Dick Guilford Chapel.
Mrs. Mitchell was born in Patrick County, Virginia to Amos Reid and Anna Lee Cruise Clifton. She was a long-time member of Friendship Church and later Morehead United Methodist Church. She was active in the activities of both churches all her life. She was a homemaker, a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She will be deeply missed.
Mrs. Mitchell is predeceased by her husband, Irven Mitchell who passed away in 1981, daughter, Anna Lee Mitchell, grandson Allen Staley, granddaughter Wendy Ann Mitchell, and sisters Nellie, Dora, Reva, Elma and Clarice.
She is survived by her children, Allena Staley (Robert) of Summerfield, Edna Moore (Bill) of Bristol, TN, and Alvin Mitchell (Joyce) of Summerfield; grandchildren, Barry and Brent Mitchell, Calvin Staley, Don and Justin Moore; 9 great-grandchildren; and sisters Bertha Blackard, Lucy Nowlin and Cora Hazelwood of Stuart, VA and brother Thomas Clifton of Ararat, VA.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, September 1, 2014 at the Forbis and Dick Guilford Chapel.
