On the 31st of March 1831 he was married to Dorthea Christiane Christensen Thranum, in the Garrison's Church in Copenhagen. Dorthea was the daughter of Christen Christensen (1790 – 1871) and
Anne Kirstine Pedersen (1786 – 1847)
Sometime around 1843, the missionaries from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints came to the area where they lived. Dorthea and all four sons were baptized within the next few years, however, Mads could not feel the spirit and refused to join. Dorthea and her sons wanted to leave Denmark and gather with the Saints in America, but Mads refused to budge; one by one around 1853, they left without him. He died on 16th of May, 1861 in Copenhagen, Copenhagen, Denmark at the age of 62.
I don't have any other information on Mads at this time.
Together, Mads and Dorthea had the following children:
Carl Christian Anton Christensen (1831 – 1912)
Niels August Christensen (1834 – 1876)
Mads Fredrick Theobald Christensen (1837 – 1917)
