He was born Sept. 17, 1948, in Alliance, Ohio, to William and Sophie (Admonius) Simons and lived in Alliance all his life. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
A graduate of Alliance High School, he retired as a welder from Alliance Machine Co. after 36 years of service and was a former member of the United Steelworkers of America.
Gerald enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening, and was creative in building and repairs.
Survivors include his wife, Deborah M. (Bruderly) Simons, whom he married Nov. 26, 1976; two sons, Gerald L. Simons Jr. of Massillon, Ohio, and Craig L. Simons of Alliance; daughter, Lisa M. (Brad) Heater of Alliance; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister, Bonnie (Robert) Lampe of Alliance; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, William Simons; mother, Sophie Simons; and a brother, William Simons.
Interment at Alliance City Cemetery.
