She is listed as Elizabeth Ayrs in her father's 1797 will.

BIRTH: Her pension says she was born in Baltimore Co. She was 78 in 1833 (born 1755), 99 in Feb 1856 (born 1757) but 1850 census says 1765.

MARRIAGE: Pension says Jan 1, 1784 but marriage records says Jan 11, 1779.

DEATH: Living at time of pension and assumed to have died shortly thereafter. Family says she was buried next to her husband at the Almony-Ayres Cemetery on the family property. Thomas Ayres tombstone was there in 1998 but was supposedly taken away by a descendent in 2005.

SOLDIER: Widows pension for Thomas Ayres claim dated Mar. 26, 1836. Thomas Ayres enlisted Dec. 17, 1776. Length of Service Nov. 14, 1783 private served under Capt. John Smith. Battles engaged in Brandywine, where wounded and Germantown. Residence at time of enlistment Bel Air, Harford Co. applied for pension Mar. 23, 1833 claim allowed. age at date of application born in Baltimore Co MD age 78 years in 1833. He died in Harford Co Mar. 13, 1836. She was allowed pension executed Feb. 16, 1856 while a resident of said county age 99 years. Pension Book says Thomas Ayres married Jan. 1, 1784 at Harford Co by Rev. Mr. Davis minister to Elizabeth Almony. Children Nancy m. William Rampley, John, Dorcas m. Jacob Brandenbaugh, Joshua, Elizabeth, James, Susan m. 1820 to Nicholas Hutchins, Mary, Thomas J. grandchild Elizabeth Rampley age 49 on May 28, 1855. Age 99 on Feb. 16, 1856 Widow's claim on Aug. 4, 1856 in her 100th year.

PENSION: Maryland Laws Passed Jan. 36, 1837. Resolution in favor of Elizabeth Ayres, widow of Thomas Ayres, a Soldier of the Revolution. Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the Treasurer of the Western Shore, be, and he is hereby authorised and directed to pay to Elizabeth Ayres, widow of Thomas Ayres, or order, out of any unappropriated money in the Treasury, the half pay of a private during her life, as a further remuneration for his services, during the revolution.
