Yelly / Early / Yearly / Easly Bolen / Bolin / Bolling / Bowlen/ Bowling was born in Virginia on Sep 1, 1801. Newspapers.com has several articles from 1819-20 discussing charges against him for stealing mail when he was a mail carrier in North Carolina. He was sentenced to 3 years. In these records he's referred to as Easly Bolin.

By 1824 he had met and married Lucy Elizabeth Sanders in Tennessee. The 1850 census had him and his family living in Giles County, Tennessee, and stated he was a farmer who could not read nor write. His wife Lucy was also unable to read or write, which could be why the exact spelling of his name is uncertain.

Soon after the 1850 Census, Yelly's family moved to Stone County, Missouri, where Yelly and Lucy subsequently died. Yelly's exact date of death is uncertain, but his will was probated at Stone County, Missouri, on Jan 16, 1857. Probate records can be found on ancestry.com.

Family lore says that Yelly and Lucy are both buried at Cape Fair Cemetery, that their headstones are the ''2 large unmarked stones beginning of row next to L D Bolen.'' http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~mostone/cemetery/capefair.html
