Emma A. Ballard (1852-Mar.10,1875)
daughter of Daniel P. Ballard and Mary Lines.
Known children:
(1)Myrtle Jennie (Oct.1969-ca1941) married first Henry J. "Barney" Howland (1865-1940) on June 26,1886 in Manchester but were soon divorced. On Apr.23,1891 she married James William Vosburg. She had three children including sons Carl and Clarence.

Dec. 1974). They had four daughters.

Note - Cora A. Allen (Nov.1866-ca1933)
appears on the 1880 census with the
family of the second marriage and was
identified as a step-daughter. She
may have been a daughter of Jeanette
Van Antwerp (out of wedlock) but was
not listed with the Van Antwerp family
on the 1870 census in Delaware County.
Cora consistently lists her father as
born in the USA but a state was never
named which might suggest she did not
know.
Cora married Elmer E. Eckert on June 21,
1891 and had two sons and one daughter.

L. Allen, a former resident of Manchester, passed away at his home in Strawberry Point on Saturday of last week at the age of 74 years. Mr. Allen was one of the pioneer draymen of this city, leaving this place some thirty years ago, he engaged in farming in the vicinity of Strawberry Point. About ten years ago he retired from the active pursuits of farming and removed to Strawberry Point, where he spent the declining years of his life.
Funeral services werre held at the family home on Tuesday afternoon, and the remains were brought to this city for interment in Oakland Cemetery.
Mr. Allen is survived by four children: Mrs. James Vosburg and Charles Allen of this city and Lillian and Clarence Allen of Strawberry Point. The sympathy of many friends is extended to the bereaved relatives.

(B) - Apr. 15, 1914
Lemuel Allen, whose death was menioned in last week's issue of The Democrat, was born in New Brunswick, May 8, 1850 and in 1868 he moved to this city. In 1876 he was united in marriage to Jeannette Van Antwerp of Manchester. To this union were born two sons and two daughters: Charles J. and Clarence R.; Mrs. Frank Meyer, and Lydia Ann, the latter having died at the age of 14 years.
In 1883 he moved onto a farm in Coffin's Grove township, near Manchester. In 1908 Mr. and Mrs. Allen moved to the city of Strawberry Point, where they have since resided.
About twenty-eight years ago he united with the Congregational church of Strawberry Point, since which time he served as an official member, was a deacon at the time of his death, Apr. 4, 1914.
