Son of Isaac Allen (1791-1837) and Rebecca Crouse (1794-1886).

First married Lydia A. Boone, daughter of William Henry Boone and Elizabeth Ann "Annie" Whitehead.

Second married Sarah E. Whiting.

OBITUARY:
Richardson Allen died Oct. 28,1908 at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Cyrus McKinnis, at the age of 90 years, 3 months and 21 days.
He was born in the parish of Keswick, New Brunswick, July 7, 1818. He grew up and was married there to Lydia A. Boone. Later he moved to Ontario (Avon, S.Dorchester Twp. in Elgin County, near city of London). Here his wife died and he married again, his second wife being Sarah E. Whiting who survives him.
Forty years ago in 1868 he came to Iowa settling in Delaware county at Dutchtown, where he has since resided.

The children of the first marriage who survive him are Mrs. Melissa Pullin and Mrs. Dorinda Franklin of Woodstock, Ontario, Canada; Mrs. Rebecca Holmes of Momence, Illinois; Samuel Allen of Strawberry Point; Mrs. Matilda Graham near Thorpe; Mrs. Dora Field of Enid, Oklahoma; and Harry S. Allen of Alta, Iowa.
The children of the second marriage surviving him are John T. Allen of Oelwein, Iowa; Mrs. Weltha Ferris, Mrs. Etta McKinnis, Mrs. Rhoda Williams, Mrs. Lottie Smith and Mrs. Rena Seger, all of Delaware County; and Mrs. Lily McNeill of Oakland, California. There are also numerous grandchildren.

Mr. Allen has lived a long and useful life. He was a kind husband and father, a friendly neighbor, and an upright and industrious citizen. He was converted and joined the Baptist Church in his youth and has ever since been an earnest member of that church, and has lived a consistent Christian life. He has been in failing health for the past two years. Two weeks ago he was moved to the home of his daughter where his death occurred.

The funeral was held from the house Saturday, Oct. 31 at 10 A.M., Rev. S.S. Stephenson, officiating. Interment was made in the Manchester cemetery

on Dec.30,1840 in NB. Their nine known
children were:
(1) Melissa (Oct.1, 1841-May 12, 1918)
married Felix E. Pullin (1838-1897) on
May 19, 1863. They had three known children.

(2) Dorinda (Dec.3, 1843-Mar. 29, 1923)
married Daniel Augustus Franklin (1833-1901)
a widower, on Dec.2,1869 in Ingersoll, ON.
No known children.

(3) Benedict Boone (May 15, 1845-Oct. 27,
1895) married Annie Matilda Edwards
(Nov.5,1849-Dec.3,1904). Both buried in
Nilestown Regular Baptist Cemetery,
N. Dorchester Twp., Middlesex County, ON.

(4) Rebecca Elizabeth (May 17, 1846-
Nov. 21, 1933) married Reuben Holmes
(Nov.19,1825-Aug.5,1902) on Dec.14,1871
in Delaware County, IA.
Burial in Momence, IL.
They had six known children: four daughters,
all unmarried and twin sons.

(5) Isaac (Nov.18,1848- ) was recorded
on the 1851 NB census with the family.
In 1861 he is living with a middle-aged
Johnson couple in North Dorchester Twp.,
Middlesex County, ON. He MAY be the same
person living in Buffalo, NY on the
1871 census. No further trace of him
has been found. He was not listed as a
surviving son in his father's obit of
1908.

(6) Lemuel (May 9, 1850-Aor.5,1914) first
married Emma A. Ballard (1851-Mar.10,1875)
and had two daughters. His second wife
was Jenette MInerva Van Antwerp (Dec.7,
1848-Mar.5,1924) and they had four known
children.

(7) Matilda Jane (Apr. 1, 1852-June 16, 1933)
married Charles Stewart Graham (1851-1923).
They had 10 children in Iowa: seven
daughters and three sons.

(8) Patience Isadore "Dora"
(Apr.1, 1854-May 29, 1939) married
John J. Field (1849-1933) in Sept.1870.
Both buried in Enid, Oklahoma.
No known children.

(9) Henry Silas (Oct.1,1856-Feb.10,1924)
married Oct. 15, 1878 in N. Dorchester
Twp., Middlesex Co., Ont. to Priscilla
Smith (1857-1895). They had a son,
Aquilla Austin (Apr.21,1885-1964), born
in Alvinston, ON.
Soon after the family moved to Iowa.
On Dec. 23, 1899 Henry married Viola
Adele (Holmes) Knight (Aug.25,1863-
July 25,1930), a widow with children.

Second Marriage:
(B) SARAH ELIZABETH WHITING (1834-1919)
on Aug.4, 1858 in Middlesex County, ON.
They had nine children:
(1) Weltha Ann (Apr.20,1859-June 12,1937)
was first married to Daniel W. Van Antwerp
(Jan.14,1854-Nov.6,1889) bet.1880 and 1885.
Her second husband was Gilbert W. Ferris
(1850-1913) whom she married bet.1900 and
1910. No known children from either marriage.

(2) John Trueman (June 2, 1860-Nov.16,1930)
married Mary Everett Smith (Dec.10,1859-
July 25, 1943) in Iowa about 1891. Both are
buried in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Salt Lake
City, Utah. They lived for many years in
Oelwein, Iowa. They had three known
children: Lillian Everett, Gertrude
Elizabeth and Ida J.

(3) Sarah Etta (Oct.8,1862-Oct.11,1950)
married Cyrus M. McKinnis (1859-1937),
lived in Iowa and had seven children,
although two died young.

(4) Rhoda May (Apr.5,1864-June 27,1949)
married William Washington Williams.

(5) Charlotte R. "Lottie" (Mar.4,1867-
Sept.21,1948) married J. Wesley Smith.
She died inn Yuba, Alameda, Calif.

(6) Lillie May (Dec.12,1868-Mar.21,1949)
married Elmer E. McNeill (1864-1920),
lived in Alameda, CA and had four children.

(7) Eurena Belle "Rena" (Aug.11,1871-
June 14, 1940) married Franklin Josiah
"Frank" Seger (Sept.23,1872-July 1,1955).
They had five children.

(8) Ella Gertrude (Oct.19,1875-June 18,
1880).
Son of Isaac Allen (1791-1837) and Rebecca Crouse (1794-1886).
