Freida Faye Brooke, 77, of Kearney, formerly of Hastings, died Sunday, Oct. 22, 2000, at St. John's Good Samaritan Center in Kearney.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the First Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Matt Nieman will officiate. Burial will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Custer Cemetery
in Broken Bow. Butler-Volland Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and one hour prior to service time Friday at the church.
Memorials are suggested to the First Presbyterian Church and the Adams County Diabetes Association.
Mrs. Brooke was born Oct. 14, 1923, at Broken Bow to Raymond and Pearl (Wymore) Neth. She graduated from Merna High School in 1941, and attended Kearney State College.
She married John McCarty in 1944, and moved to Hastings in 1946. She worked for Adams County Welfare and the Cornhusker Ordinance Plant in Grand Island from 1966 to 1971.
She married Robert E. Brooke in 1970. He died in 1994.
She owned and operated Pets Unlimited, where she groomed, raised and sold Yorkshire Terriers and poodles from 1975 to 1991.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and Daughters of the Nile, where she was a past queen and Eastern Star.
In addition to her husband, Robert, she was preceded in death by a son, Thomas; a sister, Veva Mae Graybeal; and a brother, Keith Neth.
