O. W. SHORES SERVICES
Services for O. W. Shores were held Saturday from the Burns Memorial Baptist church in Fillmore, with Rev. A. Vane Miller, officiating. Music was by the Fillmore quartet and interment was in the Fillmore cemetery, under the direction of Cole Funeral Home.
Oscar William Shores, son of James and Emeline Shores, was born March 11, 1860 in Cass county, Iowa, and he died in St. Joseph, March 15, at the age of 91 years and 4 days. He came to a farm close to the present home with his parents when he was twelve years of age.
In 1882, he was married to Nancy Jane Proffit and to them three children were born, Calvin E., Frank E., and Evalena. He was preceded in death by his wife on June 19, 1939. At the time of his death he still made his home on the place where he came 79 years ago.
He was a member of Woodmen of the World, Camp 91, Fillmore, which he joined in 1900. He suffered a broken hip on Nov. 3 and had been confined to the hospital since that time. He is survived by the three children; one sister, Mrs. Georgia Abbey, of St. Joseph; ten grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren..
