DuWayne A. Henschel
On an ordinary day, an extraordinary man passed into the hands of the Lord. Saturday, July 5, Du-Wayne A. Henschel went home to be with Jesus.
He was born April 8, 1932 and was raised and lived in Kiel, Wisconsin.
He married his high school sweetheart, La-Vonne Puetz on August 31, 1954 in St. Augustine, Florida. They made their home and raised their two daughters in Kiel, Wisconsin.
He had a large library of jokes and loved sharing them with any available audience. He had a cheerful and positive outlook on life, and often remarked, "The good Lord has been good to me". Even until the end, you could ask him how his day was and he would say "wunderbar" with a smile on his face. He appreciated LaVonne's excellent cooking skills, complimenting and thanking her often. He enjoyed life so much. Some of his favorite past times were Ushing, golUng, bowling, and he never tired of taking care of his lawn. He truly appreciated a beautiful sunset and blue skies. He was a devoted Packers and Brewers fan.
DuWayne served four years in the US Navy with the Merchant Marine on the USS Patch and USS Darby. He made frequent trips to Germany and Japan. He took joy in every workday of his career at H.G. Weber Company.
His talent and love of music was shared in many ways. He was a part of the Kiel Municipal Band, and an organist at Saint Peters UCC for 55 years, and a member of various local bands.
He is cherished by the following survivors: His Daughter and son-in-law Debbie and David Knapp and granddaughter Lindsay and Uance, Adam Kohntopp, Knoxville, Tennessee; Daughter and son-inlaw Paulette and Phil Biwan, Appleton, and grandchildren Ashley, and Tyler and girlfriend Kristin Luth, Minneappolis; Brothers DeLyle (Ann) and Floyd (Gail) with whom he enjoyed playing rounds of golf and sheephead; and other relatives and friends.
He was greeted in heaven by his loving wife La-Vonne who preceded him in death in August, 2011.
Also joining the reunion in heaven were his parents Eva and Edwin Henschel, and his mother and father-in-law Leona and Gilbert Puetz.
Funeral services for DuWayne will be held on Wednesday July 9, 2014 at 4:00pm at St. Peters UCC (424 Fremont St.) Kiel with Rev. Judine Duerwaechter ociciating. Family and friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 2:00pm until the time of services.
Burial in the Kiel City Cemetery.
