Believed to be the son of Major Marmaduke Bradley and Lydia "Liddy" Byrd (also seen as Bird). The family was from the Raleigh, Wake Co., NC area and probably moved to Tennessee in the early-to-mid-1820's.
Edmond, or Edmund, was most likely named after his grandfather, Edmund Byrd, who boasts the same variety of name spellings.
To our knowledge, Edmund had three wives: Rebecca Willis; Sarah Caroline Fonville (who wed Edmund under her married name, Little); and Flora Cheek.
