Is Buried Sunday


Funeral services for Judge Allyn Sidney Drew were held at 3 p.m. Sunday in the Green-Kleinegger Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Everett H. Phillips of the First Presbyterian church officiating.

Judge Drew died Saturday morning, Jan. 14, at 2 a.m. at his home on Pine St. in Minden.

The son of the late Judge Richard Cleveland Drew and Katie Caldwell Drew was a prominent retired attorney.

A graduate of the LSU law school, he had the distinction of being the first judge for the City of Minden. He was prominent in legal circles throughout the state of Louisiana. Judge Drew was a member of the Louisiana State Racing Commission and past president of the National Association of State Racing Commissioners.

He is survived by his widow, Alverne Richmond Drew, one daughter, Mrs. Harold Barrett and one granddaughter, Judith Alverne Barrett, all of Minden.

Pallbearers were R. Harmon Drew, A.J. Gamble, William A Kunze, Claude R. Huckaby, C. Miles Fort, Daniel W. Stewart, Jr., Aubrey E. Drake, J. Elmer Harper and G.B. Braley.

Members of the Louisiana State Bar Association were honorary members.

Interment was in the Minden cemetery.
