Obituary: The Independent November 4, 1948

Mrs. Lewis J. Larson, 69, died Friday November 5 [1948] in a hospital at Portland, Oregon where she had been a patient for 10 days. She had only moved to Portland a year ago from Douglas where she had resided since 1903. A son and daughter live in Portland. While living in Douglas, Mrs. Larson was a member of the Rebekah order and had been active in the aid society of Trinity Lutheran Church.

The body arrived in Minot Monday November 8 and funeral services were held at Trinity Lutheran church of Douglas Tuesday, November 9 at 2 p.m. with the Rev. C. M. Fosmark
officiating. Burial was in the Douglas cemetery. The Thompson-Larson funeral home had charge of arrangements. Pallbearers were Fred Kramer, Robert Cowan, Gus Nordwall,
William Skeem, Herman Arndt and Nels Narum.

Gertrude Bidne Larson was born near Voss, Norway on February 13, 1879 and came to America in 1900 at the age of 21. She was married in Flandreau, South Dakota on February 28, 1903 to Lewis J. Larson. She was preceded in death by her husband Lewis, who died in 1942, her parents, two brothers, one daughter, Lillian Hanson, who died in 1944, and one granddaughter, Maysil Hanson, who died in 1945.

Survivors include her sons, Glen of Douglas, Lyle of Pasco, Washington and Gordon of Portland; her daughters, Mrs. Bernice Snowbeck of Blair, Nebraska and Mrs. LaVerne Bowen of Portland, two brothers, Gullick Bidne of Baltic, South Dakota and Iver Bidne in Norway;
seventeen grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Douglas News:
Word was received in Douglas last week that Mrs. Gertrude Larson of Portland, Oregon is critically ill. Mrs. Larson formerly of Douglas went to Portland a year ago to make her home with her daughter, Mrs. Martin Bowen.
