Delia Frances"Fannie" Garrity Shannon was born on 7/27/1869 in Beaver Township, Dallas County, Iowa, the 9th child of Edward I. and Margaret O'Malley Garrity. Siblings were Anna (Wm. Hardy), John, Patrick (Ellen O'Connor), Mary (Lewis Alfred Adams), Michael (Anna O'Neal), Ellen (J. Meyers), Edward Jr., Margaret (B. Meyers), Joseph Reinhart (Margaret Burnette Liston) and Thomas. The family was raised near Bouton in Guthrie County, Iowa. Delia married Elmer Scott "Pete" Shannon on May 22, 1900. Delia died on St. Patrick's Day in 1945 in Des Moines, Iowa and is buried with her husband in St. Mary's Cemetery north of Jamaica, Iowa.
