Mabel Hatch was born on December 15, 1893 on a farm south of Knoxville the daughter of Steve and Georgia Rozella Rogers Jenkins and passed away on Wednesday morning at Collins Hospital where she had been a patient since September 26. She was 79 years, 10 months and 9 days at the time of her death.

She was a school teacher for several years prior to her marriage and she taught at Burr Oak in west Knoxville township, Attica Consolidated School and the Coin Consolidated School at Coin, Iowa.

She was united in marriage to Lorin Doyle Hatch on December 21, 1923 at Coin, Iowa and the couple made their home on a farm near Coin and then near Shenandoah. They moved to a farm south of Knoxville in 1930 in the Valley neighborhood and then to her present home in 1951.

She was a faithful member of the Methodist Church for 66 years and a member of the First United Methodist Church since April 13, 1941.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband on May 28, 1968, and one son, Lorin Hatch, Jr.

Left are her two sons Robert Hatch of rural Knoxville, Corwin Hatch of Knoxville, one daughter Mrs. J. Freston (Mary Elizabeth) Durham of rural Knoxville, 10 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
