Alfonso was named after his paternal grandfather, Alfonso Torregrossa

He lived with his family in a tenement dwelling, 83 James Street, in New York City's Fourth Ward.

On April 13th, 1902 Alfonso was under the care of Dr. Domenico Adnoteli for an attack of acute bronchitis. He passed away at home on the morning of April 14th, 1902. Arrangements were handled by Charles Bacigalupo and Sons for burial on April 14th, 1902.

Alfonso is at rest in a large common plot owned by Calvary Cemetery which was used for the burial of the poor.
