Mrs. Mary Jane Sutherland Shuler, 70, native of Comers Rock, Grayson County, and widow of the late Dr. Robert L. Shuler, of Broadway, Va., died in a Harrisonburg hospital on Monday, January 19, 1959.

Mrs. Shuler was the daughter of the late Alexander Sutherland and Mrs. Eliza Comer Sutherland, of Comers Rock, and her husband, also, was a native of the Comers Rock section.

Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. W. J. Sowder, Bergton; Mrs. S. L. Wilkinson, Chilhowie, and Mrs. T. R. Bainbridge, Kingsport, Tenn.; one son, R. L. Shuler, Broadway; eight grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services were held at Mt. Zion Methodist Church, Comers Rock, Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. by the Rev. B. F. Baumann, pastor of the Elk Creek circuit.

Interment was in the Comers Rock Cemetery, with Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home, Independence, assisting with the arrangements.
