Lonnie M. Sutherland, 70, well-known citizen of Comers Rock, died in a Marion hospital Monday, August 31, 1959.
Born at Comers Rock August 22, 1885. Mr. Sutherland was a son of the late Alex Sutherland and wife, Mrs. Eliza Comer Sutherland.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Grace Funk and Mrs. Beulah Roberts, both of Comers Rock; three sons, Lee Sutherland, Ralph Sutherland and Raby Sutherland, all of Comers Rock; two sisters, Mrs. Minnie Shuler and Mrs. Ruth Taylor, both of Comers Rock; three brothers, Calvin J. Sutherland, Galax; Johnson Z. Sutherland, Elk Creek, and Chap Sutherland, Comers Rock; ten grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at Mt. Zion Methodist Church, Comers Rock, Wednesday at 2:00 p.m., with the Rev. B. F. Baumann officiating.
Interment was in the Comers Rock Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Claude Sutherland, June Sutherland, Roy Taylor, Clarence Harrington, Blaine Rector and Rolfe Taylor.
Grandchildren and neighbors of the deceased carried the floral tributes.
Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
