Maudie Elizabeth Tappy, 86, of Stanardsville, died on Monday, June 2, 2014, at Grace Health and Rehab in Stanardsville.

She was born on June 27, 1927, in Stanley and was a daughter of the late Eddie W. Hilliards and Edith Mae Painter Hilliards.

Her husband, Ralph Tappy, preceded her in death.

She is survived by a son, Roy Junior Hilliards of Shenandoah; a daughter, D. "Dottie" Smith of Harrisonburg; three brothers, Charles and Arley Hilliards, both of Stanley, and Carson Hilliards of Shenandoah; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by a daughter, June Elizabeth Tappy Hilliards; two brothers, Jake "Buddy" and Isaac Shirley Gene "Jay Bird" Hilliards; and three sisters, Ruby Judd, Virginia Freeze and Doris G. Hilliards.

A funeral service will be conducted at 3 p.m. on Thursday, June 5, at the Bradley Funeral Home by the Rev. Charles R. Turner and Larry Sullivan. Burial will be in the Stanley Advent Cemetery.

The family was to receive friends from 7-8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 4, at the funeral home.
