PRESTON, Idaho - Raymond Dean Wells, 85, beloved husband, dad, grandpa, great grandpa, brother and friend returned to his Heavenly Father on Aug. 20, 2005. Raymond was born in Winder, Idaho, on Dec. 26, 1919, the sixth of nine children born to Alfred Ephrum and Bessie Taylor Wells. He was raised at his parents' farm where he learned the value of hard work.

During World War II, he served four years in the Army as a cannoneer seeing action in the South Pacific, Sipan and Iwo Jima. After Ray was discharged from the Army he met the love of his life, Jeanne Ransom. They were married on June 10, 1948, in Logan, Utah. They were later sealed in the Los Angeles LDS Temple.

They homesteaded a farm in Tulelake, Calif., where they raised their four children. He is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was a loving and devoted husband and father who was always proud of his family and their accomplishments. Upon retirement, they returned to Preston.

Ray is survive by his wife, Jeanne, of Preston; daughters, Cheryl (Don) Myers of Murray, Utah, Janice (Greg) Jensen of Taylorsville, Utah; a son, Michael (Dayna) Wells of Stevens Ranch, Calif.; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and sisters, Syble Baker and Ivy Valcarse. He was preceded in death by his oldest son Lester and a grandson, Tyler.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 25, in the Preston South Stake Center 55 E. 1st South. Friends may call Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Webb Funeral Home in Preston and Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in the Larkin Sunset Gardens, 10600 S. 1700 East, Sandy, Utah, at approximately 4 p.m. on Thursday.
