Marion Cole Williams, 93 year old Checotah resident, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 17, 2017 in Muskogee. He was born in Fame on Tuesday, October 4, 1923 to Marion M. and Ruby Cole Williams. Cole grew up in Onapa and attended Onapa schools, graduating in 1942. He met, fell in love and later married, Addie K. Herron on May 4, 1942 in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. Cole worked as a farmer and rancher and later began working for McIntosh County as a Maintenance Supervisor. That later lead into a career with the Oklahoma Department of Transportation as a Maintenance Foreman. He retired in 1985. Cole developed Brush Hill Village. Cole bought and sold tractors with his brother Jack. He was a member of the Odd Fellows, wearing his 50 year pin, was a Master Mason for 38 years, and a member of the Scottish Rite of McAlester for 30 years. Cole was a deacon at Onapa Baptist Church and later joined Brush Hill Baptist in 1973. He enjoyed working with his cows and horses. Cole is preceded in death by his parents, and wife Addie. A church service will be held March 21 at 1 p.m. at Brush Hill Baptist in Checotah, OK.
