Moselle Hively O'Brien, 95, of Spencer, West Virginia, left us to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 8, 2017. She was in a long period of declining health but was at peace and comfortable when she left. She was born in Arkon, Ohio on November 9, 1921, the oldest daughter of Rector Camden and Rosa E. Hively of Akron and Spencer.

Mrs. O'Brien, known to all as Moselle, was preceded in death by her husband, Smith F. O'Brien, also of Spencer, after a happy 48 year marriage. Also preceding her were her siblings, Evelyn A. Hively McClure, Robert L. Hively and James C. Hively.

Moselle was a member of the Board of Directors for the Roane General Hospital for 14 years. She was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church and held several offices and taught classed at Memorial UMC, Spencer. She was also creative, penning poetry and creating some original paintings, winning awards for her creations. Her love of life and family was always display and her ingenuity and creativity was partly the product of her upbringing during the Great Depression.

She is survived by her daughters, Patricia Rose O'Brien Drake of Saint Albans and Wilma Jean O'Brien Spry (a.k.a. Jeanie) of Spencer and their respective spouses; three grandchildren, and numerous nephews, nieces, other relatives and dear friends. She will be dearly missed.
