She was born January 9, 1928 in Hopkins Co., KY to the late Clifford "Big Boy" Williams and Alice Hatler Williams. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Willie H. Gammon; great granddaughter, Jessica Clark; four sisters, Clara Linstrom, Anna "Tootsie" Kwiatkowski, Elizabeth Nevitt, and Juanita Cates; three brothers, Clifford "Sonny" Williams, Roy Williams, and Jimmy Williams; and one son-in-law, Jeff Whitfield.
She worked at the Old Hopkins County Hospital and then at RMC for a total of 39 years as a nurse aid, mostly on 3 East. She loved her job and patients, and they loved her. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Madisonville.
When Melody Lanes Bowling Alley opened, she was one of the first bowlers to bowl and continued from the 1980's until she no longer could bowl. She also enjoyed playing bingo and going to the boat to play the slot machines occasionally. She loved UK basketball. She also loved going to TOPS 186 where she was loved by everyone, because she had made them a part of her family.
She is survived by daughters, Diane (Larry) Cunningham, Shirley (Billy) Duvall, and Lisa Whitfield, all of Madisonville; one son, Darrell Bruce of Owensboro, KY; three brothers, Bill Williams of Madisonville, Strother Williams of Fulton, KY; and Lee Williams of Alamosa, CO; eight grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Dr. Kevin Maples and Pastor Steve Terry officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
