"Lucius" Mason Breeding is seventh child of twelve children born to John Mason Breeding and Mary Louisa WHITTEN Breeding.

He is is grandchild of Samuel Breeding and Tilitha WINTON Breeding and James David Whitten and Mary Clarissa Maxamilia KING Whitten.

He is sibling of Mary Elna BREEDING Lyle, James David Breeding, Clarissa Maximelia "Clara" BREEDING Turney, Elisabeth Augusta BREEDING Lemmond, Alonzo Festus "Lonnie" Breeding, "Martha" Lovellin BREEDING Turney, Ora Lee BREEDING Allen, Edward Darius "Ed" Breeding, Dora "Edna" BREEDING Lyle, Evalee Ona "Leona" BREEDING Sharp and Laura Louisa "Laurie" BREEDING Lyle.

Uncle Lucius was in love with a young lady, but they were kept from each other. Her parents did not like him, and his parents did not like her. So he went to Texas, came home wealthy to ask her hand in marriage but she was already married to another man. He never married, and never had any children. (See NOTE below.) In his later years, he lived alone on the old homeplace of his parents. He died wealthy. I was told his true love's name, but have since forgotten it and did not have it written down anywhere. Granny Lyle loved him so very, very much. Big Mama (Claudine) and Mama (Sue) spoke very highly of him.

NOTE: My gratitude to my cousin Vivian Glasscock was kind enough to provide the following information for us: The lady he loved and had a child with was Elizabeth Pollard "Lizzie" Winton, daughter of Zachariah Taylor "Zack" Winton and Sarah Elizabeth Johnston Winton. Lizzie birthed her and Lucius' daughter at age 20; her name is Lorette D. Winton Blankenship. Lizzie first married, and became the 2nd wife of, Aaron Harvey Blankenship. Aaron was 1st married to Lizzie's sister, Lillian D. Winton Blankenship. Lillian died at the birth of her first child. Lucius acknowledged the daughter Lorette, and she and her husband attended family reunions at his home. Lorette was born Mar 12, 1900, and carried the Blankenship name, and she also married a Blankenship. Her husband was Claude Leemar Blankenship, son of William Harvey Blankenship and Sarah Elvira Walling Blankenship.

I am sorry that I did not see that there was already a memorial for Uncle Lucius when I built this. I wish we could combine the two memorials.

Rest in Peace, great great uncle Uncle Lucius.
