Kokomo Daily Tribune - Wednesday, May 21, 1902:
Mrs. McClain, widow of the late Judge McClain, of Wabash, died this afternoon at 1 o'clock at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Richard Ruddell, West Sycamore Street, Kokomo. Mrs. McClain was about 70 years of age. She had been ill at the home of her daughter for some time, but it was not thought that the end was so nigh. Mr. Ruddell left Tuesday afternoon for New York on an important business trip. He has been notified of her death by wire. Her son-in-law, Dr. J. H. Ford, and his wife of Indianapolis were notified Tuesday evening of her changed condition and arrived before she died.
Mrs. McClain was left a widow about four years ago by the death of Judge McClain at Wabash. The deceased was a member of the M.E. Church at Wabash and was dearly beloved as a devout Christian and a kind-hearted neighbor and friend.
