Sarah Jane Coble, a longtime Entiat resident, passed away on Monday, December 5, 2011, at the age of 87.

Sarah was born in Madison County, Arkansas, to Tom and Viola Reynolds, on November 5, 1924. She was one of the youngest in this large family, with sixteen siblings. Sarah grew up on Reynolds Mountain, where she met her future husband, Arnold Garrett Coble. They attended school together and became close friends. On November 15, 1942, Sara Jane and Arnold Garrett were married. Together they started their family and raised three rambunctious boys, all of whom currently live in Washington: Kenneth Lee in Oroville, David Wayne in East Wenatchee and Larry Joe in Entiat.

Enticed by better opportunities in the northwest, Sarah and her family moved to the state of Washington in 1955 and settled in the small town of Entiat. She began working in the fruit industry and did so until she retired in 1986. Sarah worked hard at everything she aspired to do, including taking great care of her husband and children. She was an affectionate and thoughtful woman who loved to cook and always made sure that everyone was fed and full. An incredible homemaker, Sarah enjoyed gardening, canning fruit and crocheting. This friendly and good-natured woman strived to make everyone she met feel welcome and comfortable, she knew no stranger.

Sarah is survived by her three sons; two daughters-in-law; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and best friend Arnold, as well as her sixteen siblings. Although she will be dearly missed, the spirit of this amazingly strong and warmhearted woman will live on in all of us.

A Celebratory Memorial Service will be announced in early spring 2012. For more information please visit www.harvestmoonpictures.com/sarahcoble.htm for the date and location in Entiat once these details are determined.
