Curtis was the son of William and Margaret (Fosher) Baker. He married Martha Kukkuck December 19, 1906.

Curtis was the son of W.J. and Nora Baker. His mother's maiden name is unknown at this time. He was born on November 4, 1882 in Linn County, Missouri. Curtis's father was a farmer.

On December 12, 1906, Curtis married Miss Martha Kukkuck. The wedding took place in Linn County. The couple had four children: Ethel M, born in about 1908; Virgil G., born in about 1909; Francis H., born in 1916; and Delbert, born in about 1922. All of the children were born in Linn County, Missouri.

On Setpember 12, 1918, Curtis registered for the draft of WWI. He is described on his registration as being short, with a medium build. He had blue eyes and brown hair.

In the Federal Census records from 1910-1930, the family was living outside of Brookfield, in Linn County. The 1930 Census lists the value of their farm at $17,000.

Martha passed away in 1975. Curtis died in August, 1978.
