John Farrar Dies of Heart Trouble
John Farrar, 78, almost life-long resident of this community, died Wednesday morning at 8:30 o'clock at the W. H. Mayhew home where he had lived for more than a year. He had been about town as usual, and few people realized his health was not quite robust. Monday afternoon he suffered a heart attack while up town and was taken home by his physician. He failed rapidly from that time until his death.
Mr. Farrar was born May 5, 1847, at Ogdensburg, N, Y., and came to Walworth county with his parents, when a lad, settling on a farm south of town. He was married November 30 1871 to Adaresta Wales and they remained on the home farm until about 35 years ago, when they bought a home and moved into town. Mr. Farrar was a great lover of a good horse; and for many years after moving into the city he still owned two or three spirited animals.
Four years ago Mr. and Mrs. Farrar celebrated their golden wedding with a large gathering of relatives and friends.
Mrs. Farrar died February 12, 1924. One daughter, Mrs. Hilah Madouse, also preceded him in death. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Laura Davis of Chicago; and two sons, Harry of this city and Will of Chicago; also five grand children; two brothers, George Farrar, Elkhorn, and James Farrar, Hudson, Iowa; and two sisters, Mrs. Cassie Parker, San Francisco, Calif., and Mrs. Fannie Moorhouse of Chicago.
The funeral will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Congregational church, the Rev. A. B. Bell, officiating, with interment in the family lot in Hazel Ridge cemetery.
