AUSTIN -- Walter L. Fretty, 81, of 300 First Ave. N.W., a farmer and construction worker, died Friday (Oct. 1, 1993) at St. Olaf Hospital here.
He was born April 11, 1911, in Swea City, Iowa, and lived in Austin the past 55 years. He served with the Army in the South Pacific in World War II. Mr. Fretty was a member of Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church. He never married.
He is survived by a brother, Russell, of Georgia; and two sisters, Mildred (Mrs. Art) Miles and Hazel Hansen, both of Sisters, Ore.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Ron Siemers officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Austin. Friends may call at Worlein Funeral Home in Austin from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today and at the church an hour before the service.
Memorials are suggested to Faith Evangelical Lutheran Sanctuary.
