Edward was one of fourteen children born to Thomas Rasmus (1865-1953) and Carrie Malinda Anderson(1870-1930) Fretty. Both Thomas and Carrie had been born in Norway. Edward attended local schools and completed two years of high school.


At 18 yrs old, Edward married Hazle May Buchan, also 18 yrs, on September 7, 1920 in Martin Co., MN.

In 1930 they couple was residing at 336 Cudahy Ave, Cudahy, WI. Edward was employed at a local meat packing plant. Living in the house were their two daughters, and Edward's brother Clifford, 22yrs, single, who was working as a fire cleaner at the local rubber mf. plant.

In the 1940 Census, the family was still living at the same address. Their older daughter had married and she and her husband were also living there. Frank Grzesk was employed as a grinder in the steel mill.


Beloved father of Avyes (1921-2004) and June (1926-2004). June was married to Charles Ferguson. Jr. (1921-2002) in 1939 and they resided in Mukwonago, WI.
