John William Millsapps died at his home in Windsor, Weld, Colorado on Thursday, March 20, 2014 at the age of 76.

He was born on 3 January 1938 to Virgel and Ellen Millsapps in Englewood, Colorado. John was a graduate of Sheridan High School, University of Northern Colorado and Truman State College, and held a PhD in Education from Iowa State University.

He married Sally Rock on December 26, 1964, settling in Ames, Iowa where he spent much of his career as an assistant Speech and Language Professor at Iowa State University and at the State Department of Education in Des Moines.

He and Sally returned to Colorado in 1990 to retire, where he fed his passion collecting antique cars, license plates, oil cans, locks and keys, toys and all things vintage and collectible. He had a love of words and was a voracious reader. He was a frequent contributor to antique car magazines, wrote poetry and was a crossword puzzle enthusiast.

He is survived by his wife Sally, son Michael, daughter Susan, sisters Helen and Sharon, and brothers Richard and Clarence.

He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters Hazel, Cleo, and Shirley; brother Keith, and two half brothers.
