Vern Sedlacek, the eighth of nine children and son of Martin and Emma Sedlacek was born in Haddam and died of heart failure at the age of 65 years, 3 months and 23 days.

He was born on a farm and lived in Kansas all his life. He joined the army in January 1941, and served in the Panama Canal Zone and later in France.
After his discharge in September, 1945, he bought a farm 10 miles north of Morrowville, Kan., where he and his wife, Mary June Reynolds, raised four children. After moving from the farm, he bought a house in Cuba and made his home there until his death.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Victor and Ervin. He is survived by his wife, June; his children, Laura, Larry, Lonnie and Leona; three brothers, Leo of Corvallis, Ore., Henry of Belle Plaine, Iowa, Raymond of Floger Beach, Fla.; three sisters, Laura Cash of Lucerne, Calif., Vera Graham and Sylvia Deegan of Corvallis, Ore.; nine grandchildren.
